Flap Discs

A flap disc is a grinding disc and a sanding disc combined, consisting of layered sandpaper glued down in a flap orientation. As it spins, new grinding material is exposed resulting in a ground-down welding seam.

Alpha’s Flap Discs feature different component materials that are suitable for a wide range of different applications. The 3 main grains we use for our flap discs are Ceramic, Zirconia, and Alox or Aluminium Oxide.

The Alpha Ceramic Flap Disc is suitable for angle grinders above 1200 watts and perfect for industrial applications like heavy engineering, manufacturing and fabrication. This disc has a geometrically shaped ceramic abrasive grain that provides maximum and furiously fast stock removal with low heat generation. The ceramic grain provides the longest life and fastest cut rate.

The Alpha Xtra Zirconia Flap Disc is suitable for general-purpose work with premium 100% zirconia grain and heavy-duty synthetic reinforced backing cloth for exceptional performance. It has the ultimate long life with mild and stainless steel grinding and finishing.
