Hand Files

The purpose of hand files is to shape and refine surfaces by removing excess material, creating smooth edges, and adjusting the size and shape of objects. They are commonly used in woodworking, metalworking, jewellery making, and other crafts that require precision and accuracy.

When using a hand file, it is important to hold it securely and apply consistent pressure in the desired direction. Pushing the file away from the body is the most common technique, but some situations may require pulling it towards yourself. It is advisable to wear protective gloves and goggles to prevent injury from flying debris.

Alpha has a wide range of hand files including six different shapes and three different types of cuts all suitable for various applications like smoothing, honing, cleaning and deburring. The six different hand file types that Alpha stocks are: flat, square, half round, round, chainsaw and slim taper. Depending on the desired finish, there are also options between first, second and third cut, also known as bastard, second, and smooth cut.

Along with the files, we also have two different file handles to choose from, soft grip and plastic.

For all other abrasive work needs, we have a range of high-quality cutting discs, flap discs, and grinding discs for all other abrasive work needs.
